New Theatrical Performance On The Way "Halat Ab Bhi Badale Nahi" written by Virendra Ganvir. (जल्द ही आ रहा है रंगमंच पर! वीरेंद्र गणवीर लिखित नाटक "हालात अब भी बदले नहीं"।)

In 1993, manual scavenging was stopped in India. Yet it is estimated that around 1.80 lakh people have to do it. Earlier, NGOs used to help in providing the compensation to the sanitary workers and their family members but gradually NGO members realized that they should try to eradicate this practice. Swach Bharat Mission talks about building toilets. It does not elaborate on constructing sewer lines and does not answer that who will get inside and clean the manholes? Getting inside them is equivalent to doing manual scavenging as the sanitary workers are cleaning materials which are mixed with human feces and other substances which are beyond beyond imagination. They enter inside manholes and sewer in normal clothing and they are not provided with proper equipment. In this process, they die inside sewer lines and gutters. Article 21 of Indian Constitution grants us right to live but when a manual scavenger/sanitary worker die inside gutter and sewer, then the matter is taken in the context of cleaning. In this scenario, no one bothers about human rights.     

In this backdrop, "Halat Ab Bhi Badale Nahi" written by Virendra Ganvir talks about these issues and expresses the struggles of manual scavengers and sanitary workers which forms an important part of society. This play will try to add more force to the Movement of Manual Scavengers. This is the passion of actors of Bahujan Rangbhoomi. - Surendra Wankhede.

"भारत में मैनुअल स्केवेंजिंग पर साल १९९३ से रोक लगा दी गई है। फिर भी एक अनुमान के मुताबिक तकरीबन १.८० लाख लोगो को अभी भी यह करना पड़ता है। एनजीओ पहले सफाई कर्मचारि औए उनके परिवारों को मुआवजा दिलवाने मे मदद करता था लेकिन बाद मे इसके सदस्यो को लगा, कि इसे रोकने के लिए कुछ करना चाहिए। स्वच्छ भारत मिशन  टोईलेट्स बनाने कि बात करता है। लेकिन सिवर लाइने ही नहीं है। फिर मैनहोल्स, बदबूदार टेंकों को कौन साफ करेगा? सफाई कर्मचारी सिवर लाइन, गटर के अंदर ही मर जाते है। संविधान का आर्टिक्ल २१ हमें जीने का अधिकार देता है, लेकिन जब सफाई कर्मी सिवर, गटर में मर जाते है हम इसे सफाई के मसले के तौर पर देखते है। कोई नहीं कहता कि यह मानवाधिकार का मुद्दा है।"

वीरेंद्र गणवीर लिखित नाटक 'हालात अब भी बदले नहीं' मे, इन्ही मुद्दो को लेकर सफाई कर्मचारि जो समाज का एक महत्वपूर्ण अंग है, उनकि पीड़ा को दर्शाया गया है। सफाई कर्मचारी आंदोलन को, इस नाटक द्वारा ओर तेज करेंगे। यही बहुजन रंगभूमि के रंगकर्मियो का ध्यास है। - सुरेन्द्र  वानखेडे
