Inspiration

INSPIRATION:

        First theatre activist of Indian Theatre, Bhadant Ashwaghosh had begun a movement for peace and humanity through his first drama "Buddha Charitam". This movement is carried forward by the First Marathi Theatre Dramatist Rashtrapitah Jyotiba Fule by his first revolutionary Marathi play "Trutiya Ratna". Moving onwards, this movement is shouldered by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Through his inspirations and thoughts, Loakshahir Annabhau Sathe had continued this social reforming theatre movement for uplifting Bahujan(SC, ST, OBC & other Minorities). Thus, Ambedkarite Buddhist -Theatre came into existence. Today, Bahujan Rangbhoomi is following the path shown by these great personalities.

       The goal of this association is to make a positive change in the society through the excellence of talent and to reconstruct the actual culture of ancient India. This is done in order to make India as Prabuddha Bharat (coined by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar).

        Bahujan Rangbhoomi is a well known Ambedkarite, Buddhist Theatre group in India. It was established on 14th of April, 1990 by Mr. Virendra Ganvir. It is the only association in Maharashtra which is working sincerely to elevate common man through theatre. This group conducted thousands of successful presentations all over the country. Since 1990, it is the only association which is working widely on the social child theatre every year.

Bahujan Rangbhoomi spreads social awareness and fights for the human rights of  Mulnivasi Bahujan Samaj. Since 2000, the group is organizing special theatre camps to polish the artists from totally non-theatre background to a professional artist. Bahujan Rangabhoomi is also working in the backward and tribal areas including Naxalite belts like Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), Chhattisgarh, etc. It is known for its experimental plays, street plays and child plays. It is the first group in Vidarbha region which changed the history of Maharashtra State Government competitions by winning the best production award in finales where the artists belong to slum and tribal areas.

       Bahujan Rangabhoomi participates in National social conferences from the last few years. It organizes National Ambedkarite Theatre Festival to strengthen the art of theatre. Various artists of Bahujan Rangbhoomi are now working in JNU, FTI, NSD, MTA, films and T.V. serials. Hundreds of National and State level awards are received by the artists of Bahujan Rangbhoomi. With dedication and determination, Bahujan Rangbhoomi is progressing towards world theatre.
